1. Job Purpose

The Medical Officer is responsible for providing clinical assessment and medical care to patients, monitoring their condition, supporting consultants in patient management and ensuring timely coordination of investigations, treatment and emergency care. The MO will also ensure proper clinical documentation and compliance with hospital protocols.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Patient Assessment & Clinical Care

- Conduct initial clinical assessment of patients.
- Take detailed medical history and perform appropriate physical examination.
- Monitor patient condition and identify any clinical deterioration.
- Prepare appropriate clinical notes and communicate findings to the treating consultant.
- Implement treatment plans and medical instructions as advised by the consultant.
- Ensure timely review and follow-up of patients.

B. Inpatient & Outpatient Coordination

- Attend to patients as assigned in OPD/IPD and other clinical areas.
- Monitor admitted patients and provide regular clinical updates.
- Coordinate with consultants regarding diagnosis, treatment and further management.
- Ensure timely implementation of consultant orders.
- Coordinate patient referrals and transfers whenever required.

C. Emergency Management

- Attend to medical emergencies promptly.
- Provide initial assessment and stabilization of emergency patients.
- Initiate appropriate emergency management within the scope of practice.
- Coordinate with consultants and emergency teams during critical situations.
- Assist during Code Blue and other hospital emergency procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation of emergency interventions.

D. Investigation & Treatment Coordination

- Review laboratory, radiology and other investigation reports.
- Inform the treating consultant of significant or abnormal findings.
- Coordinate with Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy and Nursing teams.
- Ensure investigations are ordered and followed up as per the clinical plan.
- Monitor response to treatment and report relevant changes to the consultant.

E. Medication Management





- Administer/prescribe medications as per authorized clinical responsibility and consultant instructions.
- Review medication orders for completeness and appropriateness within the assigned role.
- Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions.
- Report medication-related concerns immediately.
- Ensure proper documentation of medication and treatment-related activities.

F. Clinical Documentation

- Maintain accurate and timely patient medical records.
- Document assessment, diagnosis, treatment, progress notes and clinical events.
- Ensure discharge summaries and other clinical documents are completed as per hospital policy.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Ensure documentation is available for audit and quality review.

G. Patient & Attendant Communication

- Communicate professionally and empathetically with patients and attendants.
- Explain routine clinical information and treatment plans as appropriate.
- Address routine medical queries and escalate concerns to the treating consultant.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
- Support a positive patient experience.

H. Infection Control & Patient Safety

- Follow hospital infection-prevention and control policies.
- Follow hand hygiene, PPE and aseptic practices as applicable.
- Ensure appropriate biomedical waste segregation.
- Report hospital-acquired infection concerns, incidents and near misses as required.
- Follow patient-identification and other patient-safety protocols.

I. Coordination with Nursing & Other Departments

- Work closely with Nursing Incharge, Staff Nurses and other clinical staff.
- Provide clear and timely clinical instructions to the nursing team.
- Coordinate with Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Blood Bank and other departments.
- Participate in clinical handovers and multidisciplinary discussions as required.

3. Quality & Compliance

- Follow hospital SOPs, clinical protocols and applicable medical guidelines.




- Participate in clinical audits and quality-improvement activities.
- Support hospital accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Participate in mandatory training, drills and competency programs.
- Report clinical incidents and non-compliances to the appropriate authority.
- Ensure timely closure of assigned quality-related observations.

4. Qualification & Experience

Minimum Qualification:

- BHMS And BAMS from a recognized medical institution.
- Valid registration with the applicable Medical Council/National Medical Commission as required.

Experience:

- 3–4 years of relevant experience as a Medical Officer in a hospital/healthcare setting.
- Previous experience in a multispecialty hospital is preferred.
- Experience in oncology/medical-surgical/critical-care settings will be an added advantage, depending on the assigned department.

7. Accountability

The Medical Officer is accountable for providing safe and timely medical care within the assigned scope of practice, ensuring appropriate patient monitoring, coordinating with consultants and clinical departments, responding effectively to emergencies and maintaining complete and accurate clinical documentation.

Pay: ₹180.00 - ₹200.00 per hour
