We're Hiring Interns — Patient Coordination & Hospital Experience
Open to: MSW (Medical & Psychiatric Social Work) and Hospital Administration (BHA/MHA) students Duration: [3 / 6 months] |
Type: Full-time internship | Stipend: 7000-10000]
About the Role
We're looking for empathetic, well-spoken interns to join our patient coordination team as Hospital Ushers. This isn't a reception desk job — you'll be the human bridge between patients, their families, and our clinical team, making sure no one feels lost, confused, or unheard while they're with us.
You'll spend your day on the floor, not behind a screen: guiding patients through appointments, explaining procedures in plain language, and gently helping anxious patients feel comfortable enough to go through with recommended tests or treatments.
What You'll Do
- Appointment coordination — guide patients to the right department/doctor, manage queue flow, and keep appointment schedules running smoothly.
- Patient counseling & explanation — explain procedures, tests, and hospital processes in simple terms so patients know what to expect and why.
- Building patient confidence — many patients hesitate or feel anxious about a recommended test or procedure; you'll listen to their concerns and help them feel informed enough to move forward.
- Family liaison — keep waiting family members updated and address their questions with patience and clarity.
- On-ground problem solving — handle day-to-day hiccups (delays, confusion, mix-ups) calmly and courteously.
- Feedback loop — flag recurring patient concerns to hospital administration so processes keep improving.
Who We're Looking For
- Pursuing or recently completed MSW or a Hospital/Healthcare Administration degree.
- Comfortable speaking Malayalam and English; Hindi is a plus.
- Genuinely enjoys talking to people — patient, warm, and unhurried even when the floor is busy.
- Clear communicator who can explain something twice, three different ways, until it lands.
- Comfortable being on your feet and moving around the hospital through the day.
- Prior exposure to a hospital, clinic, or counseling setting is a plus, not a requirement.
What You'll Gain
- Direct, hands-on exposure to hospital operations and patient experience management.
- Practical counseling experience — a solid foundation if you're headed toward medical social work or healthcare administration.
- Certificate of internship and a letter of recommendation on successful completion.
- Mentorship from our hospital administration team.
