1. Job Purpose
The ANM is responsible for assisting in providing safe, compassionate and quality nursing care to patients under the supervision of the Nursing Incharge and Staff Nurse. The role includes basic patient care, vital monitoring, medication support, documentation, infection-control practices and assisting the nursing team in smooth day-to-day patient-care activities.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Patient Care
- Provide basic nursing care and comfort to patients.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, mobility and routine care as required.
- Monitor the general condition of patients and promptly report any abnormal findings.
- Assist Staff Nurses in implementing the nursing care plan.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
B. Vital Signs & Patient Monitoring
- Measure and record temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure as instructed.
- Monitor patients for any change in condition.
- Immediately report abnormal observations to the Staff Nurse/Nursing Incharge.
- Assist in maintaining intake-output records wherever applicable.
C. Medication & Treatment Assistance
- Assist Staff Nurses in medication-related activities as permitted by hospital policy and scope of practice.
- Ensure medicines and patient-related supplies are available when required.
- Observe patients for any unusual reaction and immediately inform the Staff Nurse.
- Assist during routine nursing procedures under appropriate supervision.
D. Nursing Documentation
- Maintain accurate records as assigned by the Staff Nurse/Nursing Incharge.
- Assist in updating vital charts, nursing records and other required documentation.
- Ensure records are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
E. Infection Control & Hygiene
- Follow proper hand hygiene practices.
- Use PPE as required.
- Follow aseptic techniques during assigned procedures.
- Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation as per hospital guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the patient-care area.
- Follow all hospital infection-prevention and control policies.
F. Emergency & Safety
- Assist the nursing team during patient emergencies.
- Support the Staff Nurse during Code Blue/emergency situations as instructed.
- Ensure required emergency supplies are available in the assigned area.
- Immediately report patient-safety incidents, falls or other hazards.
- Follow hospital fire and emergency-safety procedures.
G. Equipment & Supplies
- Assist in maintaining nursing equipment in clean and ready-to-use condition.
- Check availability of basic nursing consumables.
- Inform the Staff Nurse/Nursing Incharge about shortages or damaged equipment.
- Use hospital supplies responsibly and minimize unnecessary wastage.
H. Patient & Attendant Communication
- Communicate respectfully and politely with patients and attendants.
- Assist patients and attendants with routine queries related to nursing care.
- Provide basic care-related instructions as directed by the nursing team.
- Escalate complaints or concerns to the Staff Nurse/Nursing Incharge.
I. Shift Handover & Team Coordination
- Participate in shift handover as required.
- Communicate pending patient-care activities to the incoming team.
- Coordinate effectively with Staff Nurses, Nursing Incharge and other hospital departments.
- Support the nursing team during busy periods and patient-care activities.
3. Quality & Compliance
- Follow hospital nursing SOPs and protocols.
- Maintain patient safety and infection-control standards.
- Participate in mandatory training and competency programs.
- Support nursing audits and quality-improvement activities.
- Report incidents and non-compliances promptly to the concerned authority.
4. Qualification & Experience
Minimum Qualification:
- ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery) from a recognized institution.
- Valid Nursing Council registration as applicable.
Experience:
- 0-1 years of experience in a hospital/healthcare setting preferred.
- Freshers may be considered based on hospital requirements and competency.

- Compliance with hospital SOPs and safety guidelines.
- Proper utilization of hospital supplies.
7. Accountability
The ANM is accountable for performing assigned nursing and patient-care activities safely and efficiently under the supervision of the nursing team, maintaining proper hygiene and documentation, promptly reporting patient-related concerns and supporting smooth nursing operations.
Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
