Purchase Engineer / Procurement Engineer – Projects

Job Purpose:
Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, purchasing, and timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services required for civil construction projects while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

- Understand project BOQ, drawings, specifications, and material requirements.
- Prepare procurement plans based on project schedules and site requirements.
- Source suppliers and subcontractors for civil construction materials and services.
- Obtain and compare quotations from multiple vendors.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions.
- Purchase materials such as cement, steel, aggregates, sand, blocks, bricks, tiles, pipes, waterproofing materials, and finishing materials.
- Coordinate with Project, Planning, QA/QC, Stores, Finance, and Site teams.
- Ensure materials are purchased according to approved specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare purchase orders and subcontract/work orders.
- Follow up with suppliers for timely delivery to site.
- Monitor material prices and identify cost-saving opportunities.




- Evaluate and develop reliable suppliers and subcontractors.
- Maintain procurement records, quotation comparisons, purchase orders, and vendor documents.
- Resolve issues related to delays, shortages, quality, and commercial terms.
- Support project cost control and ensure procurement is within the approved budget.
- Coordinate with stores/site teams for material receipt and documentation.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and project records.

Required Qualifications:

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering, or relevant qualification.
- Experience in procurement/purchase for civil construction or infrastructure projects.
- Positive knowledge of construction materials and specifications.
- Strong negotiation and vendor-management skills.
- Knowledge of MS Excel, ERP/procurement software, and basic project documentation.
