Infrastructure Architect
Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise-scale Cloud environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Cloud Networking, Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF), Landing Zones, and large-scale Data Center Migration to Cloud. The architect will drive cloud transformation initiatives, define target-state architectures, and guide migration of infrastructure and applications from on-premises data centers to Azure while ensuring security, scalability, resiliency, and cost optimization.
This role requires a strong combination of cloud architecture, enterprise networking, migration strategy, governance, and stakeholder management experience. Enterprise landing zones, hybrid connectivity, network security controls, and migration governance are common themes in large Azure migration programs.
Key Responsibilities
Azure Architecture & Strategy
- Define and maintain Azure cloud architecture standards, reference architectures, and design principles.
- Design enterprise-scale Azure Landing Zones aligned with Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF).
- Develop cloud roadmaps supporting modernization, data center exit, and cloud transformation initiatives.
- Ensure architectures align with security, compliance, governance, and operational requirements.
Azure Networking
- Design and implement complex Azure networking solutions including:
- Hub-and-Spoke architectures
- Azure Virtual WAN
- ExpressRoute
- Site-to-Site VPN
- Azure Firewall
- Network Security Groups (NSG)
- User Defined Routes (UDR)
- Azure Load Balancers
- Application Gateway / WAF
- Private Endpoints
- Private DNS Zones
- Azure DNS
- NAT Gateway
- Azure Virtual Network Peering
- Develop enterprise network segmentation and Zero Trust networking strategies.
- Define hybrid connectivity standards between on-premises and Azure environments.
- Lead network migration and connectivity planning during cloud migration projects.
Data Center Migration & Transformation
- Lead assessment, planning, and execution of large-scale data center migration programs.
- Develop migration strategies utilizing:
- Rehost (Lift and Shift)
- Replatform
- Refactor
- Retire
- Retain
- Lead workload discovery and dependency mapping.
- Define migration waves, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and migration governance.
- Design migration solutions using:
- Azure Migrate
- Azure Site Recovery (ASR)
- Azure Backup
- Drive migration of:
- Windows workloads
- Linux workloads
- Virtualized environments
- SAP landscapes
- Enterprise applications
- Support data center exit initiatives and modernization programs. Enterprise migration programs often include discovery, landing-zone readiness, network validation, migration waves, and disaster recovery planning
Security & Governance
- Implement Azure governance frameworks using:
- Azure Policy
- Management Groups
- RBAC
- Microsoft Entra ID
- Privileged Identity Management (PIM)
- Ensure secure cloud adoption aligned with Zero Trust principles.
- Collaborate with security teams on architecture reviews and compliance requirements.
- Design secure ingress, egress, and network inspection patterns.
Platform Engineering & Automation
- Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption using:
- Terraform
- Bicep
- ARM Templates
- Support automation, CI/CD, and cloud operational maturity.
- Establish reusable architecture patterns and deployment standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with infrastructure, security, application, and business teams.
- Present architecture solutions to technical and executive stakeholders.
- Lead architecture workshops, migration planning sessions, and design reviews.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineers and architects.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of infrastructure and networking experience.
- 7+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience.
- 5+ years of Azure architecture experience.
- Proven experience in migrating enterprise workloads from on-premises data centers to Azure.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise cloud landing zones.
- Experience leading global migration programs involving multiple business units.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has successfully architected and delivered enterprise-scale Azure transformations, including landing zones, hub-and-spoke networking, hybrid connectivity, disaster recovery solutions, and large data center exit programs. The individual should be comfortable engaging with executives, application teams, infrastructure engineers, and security architects while driving cloud adoption and operational excellence. SAP Cloud Migration experience is a plus.
