Job Description – GPS Technician
Position: GPS Technician
Location: Wani, Pandharpauni / Gondegaon Coal Washery.
Salary: ₹15,000 – ₹20,000 per month
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Purpose
The GPS Technician will be responsible for operating GPS/GNSS equipment, collecting and maintaining accurate location and field data, supporting site surveying activities, and providing GPS-related technical assistance at the coal washery site.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate GPS/GNSS equipment for accurate field data collection and location tracking.
- Collect GPS coordinates, site points, routes, and other required field information.
- Assist in surveying and mapping of coal washery/site areas.
- Record and maintain GPS readings, field measurements, coordinates, and daily survey data.
- Assist in marking and verifying site locations, boundaries, roads, stockyards, and other designated areas.
- Download, transfer, organize, and maintain GPS data and field records.
- Prepare basic maps, location reports, and GPS-related documentation as required.
- Coordinate with the Site, Mining, Survey, and Operations teams for field requirements.
- Check GPS equipment regularly and report any technical issues or inaccuracies.
- Ensure proper handling, charging, storage, and maintenance of GPS instruments.
- Follow all site safety rules and PPE requirements while working in the coal washery area.
- Perform other GPS/survey-related duties assigned by the reporting manager.
Eligibility / Qualification
- ITI / Diploma / 12th pass with relevant technical or surveying experience.
- Basic knowledge of GPS/GNSS equipment and field data collection.
- Candidates with experience in mining, coal washery, construction, surveying, or infrastructure projects will be preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge, particularly MS Excel and data entry.
- Ability to work in outdoor/site conditions.
Required Skills
- Hands-on knowledge of GPS/GNSS equipment.
- Good understanding of coordinates, locations, and field measurements.
- Basic computer and data management skills.
- Positive observation and accuracy in recording field data.
- Ability to work independently at the site.
- Positive communication and coordination skills.
- Safety-conscious approach to field work.
Experience
1–3 years of relevant experience. Freshers with practical knowledge of GPS/surveying may also be considered.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
