Job Summary

We are looking for skilled Fitter / Welders to support shipbuilding and ship-repair activities. The candidate will be responsible for structural fitting, alignment, fabrication, tack welding, and welding of steel components as per drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety procedures. These are standard responsibilities in shipyard fitter/welder roles.

Key Responsibilities

- Read and understand engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
- Measure, mark, cut, grind, and prepare plates, angles, channels, pipes, and other structural materials.
- Fit and align hull plates, frames, stiffeners, bulkheads, decks, brackets, and other ship structures.
- Carry out tack welding and prepare joints for final welding.
- Perform welding using SMAW/ARC, MIG/MAG, FCAW or other approved processes, as required.
- Maintain correct alignment, dimensions, levels, and tolerances during fabrication.
- Perform gas cutting, grinding, gouging, chipping, and other fabrication activities.
- Inspect completed work for proper fit-up, weld quality, and dimensional accuracy.
- Rectify welding/fabrication defects as instructed by the supervisor or QC team.
- Handle welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, hand tools, and measuring instruments safely.
- Follow approved WPS, welding procedures, quality requirements, and production schedules.




- Maintain proper housekeeping and comply with shipyard safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Work effectively in confined spaces, elevated areas, workshops, and onboard vessels when required.

Qualification

- ITI – Fitter / Welder / Structural Fitter preferred.
- Candidates with relevant shipbuilding, ship-repair, structural fabrication, or heavy engineering experience will be preferred.
- Freshers/ITI candidates with good practical skills may also be considered, depending on the requirement.

Experience

- 2–10 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience in shipyard, marine fabrication, structural fabrication, or heavy engineering is an advantage.
- Candidates experienced in both fitting and welding will be preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Marine/shipyard experience is highly preferred. Candidates from structural steel fabrication, industrial fabrication, construction, or heavy engineering backgrounds with good fitting/welding skills may also apply.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
