Role Overview
Edvia.ai is seeking an experienced and student-centric Student Counsellor - Overseas Education to provide virtual and, where required, physical counselling to prospective students interested in studying abroad.The role involves conducting personalised counselling sessions, assessing student profiles, recommending suitable study destinations, universities, and programs, and guiding students throughout their overseas education journey.The ideal candidate should have prior experience in overseas education counselling, proven experience delivering virtual counselling through an EdTech or digital platform, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trust with students while helping them make informed academic and career decisions.Candidates with strong expertise in European destinations will be preferred, although experience across any major overseas education destination will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct virtual and, where required, physical counselling sessions with prospective students and parents interested in studying abroad.
- Evaluate students' academic backgrounds, career aspirations, financial capabilities, English language proficiency, and study preferences.
- Provide personalised guidance on study destinations, universities, courses, scholarships, admission requirements, and career opportunities.
- Recommend suitable universities, courses, and study destinations based on individual student profiles and career objectives.
- Provide counselling across major study-abroad destinations, including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and other international destinations.
- Explain admission processes, documentation requirements, application timelines, visa requirements, financial requirements, and enrollment procedures for relevant destinations.
- Support students throughout the application process and coordinate closely with the internal admissions and processing teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective students through regular and timely follow-ups.
- Address student and parent queries professionally and provide accurate information throughout the counselling journey.
- Ensure accurate and timely updates of student interactions, counselling outcomes, follow-ups, and application progress in the CRM system.
- Stay updated on international education trends, university requirements, scholarships, admission policies, visa regulations, and immigration-related updates across key destinations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of university offerings, intakes, eligibility criteria, tuition fees, scholarships, and career opportunities across different destinations.
- Work closely with the admissions, application processing, and counselling teams to ensure a seamless student journey.
- Identify high-potential students and effectively guide them from counselling to application and enrollment.
- Achieve monthly counselling, application, and enrollment targets.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in overseas education counselling.
- Proven experience conducting counselling sessions for students aspiring to study abroad.
- Preferred experience providing virtual counselling through an EdTech platform and managing student journeys digitally.
- Strong knowledge of major overseas study destinations such as the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.
- Candidates with strong knowledge or experience in European destinations will be preferred.
- Knowledge of European destinations such as Germany, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Malta, Spain, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Finland, Sweden, and other European/Schengen countries will be an added advantage.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Robust counselling, relationship-building, and student engagement abilities.
- Ability to understand individual student profiles and provide consultative academic and career guidance.
- Experience using CRM systems, counselling platforms, and virtual meeting tools.
- Strong understanding of the overseas education admission lifecycle.
- Graduate in any discipline. Education, Management, International Relations, or related fields will be preferred.
