Job Description – South Indian Chef

Job Title: South Indian Chef
Department: Food Production / Kitchen
Reports To: Sous Chef / Executive Chef

Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced South Indian Chef to prepare authentic and high-quality South Indian dishes for hotel guests. The chef should have solid knowledge of traditional South Indian cooking techniques, ingredients, recipes, food safety, and kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare authentic South Indian dishes such as dosa, idli, vada, sambar, rasam, chutneys, uttapam, pongal, upma, biryani, and regional curries.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, buffet, and à la carte items as required.
- Maintain consistent taste, quality, portion size, and presentation.
- Prepare and manage batters, masalas, gravies, chutneys, and other kitchen preparations.
- Follow standardized recipes and portion-control procedures.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and rotation of food ingredients.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
- Monitor food quality and minimize wastage.




- Coordinate with the Sous Chef and other kitchen team members during service.
- Assist in menu planning and development of South Indian specialties.
- Train and guide Commis Chefs and kitchen helpers when required.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained properly.
- Follow hotel policies, HACCP standards, and applicable food-safety regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a South Indian Chef, preferably in a hotel, restaurant, or large-scale kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of South Indian cuisine and regional cooking styles.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Knowledge of buffet and à la carte operations is an advantage.
- Culinary qualification or hotel-management training is preferred.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹300,000.00 per month
