Job Purpose
The IGCSE Physics Facilitator will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, concept-driven Physics lessons aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum. The facilitator should develop students' scientific thinking, problem-solving abilities, practical skills, and confidence in applying Physics concepts to real-world situations.
Key Responsibilities1. Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver high-quality Physics lessons in accordance with the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum.
- Develop students' conceptual understanding through inquiry-based and student-centred learning.
- Explain complex Physics concepts using appropriate examples, demonstrations, simulations, and practical activities.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the learning needs and abilities of individual students.
- Integrate real-world applications of Physics into classroom learning.
- Encourage critical thinking, analytical reasoning, scientific investigation, and problem-solving.
2. Practical & Laboratory Skills
- Plan and conduct appropriate Physics practical experiments and investigations.
- Ensure students develop skills in observation, measurement, data collection, analysis, evaluation, and scientific reporting.
- Maintain appropriate laboratory safety standards.
- Ensure laboratory equipment and resources are used responsibly and safely.
- Prepare students for Cambridge practical and experimental components.
3. Assessment & Academic Progress
- Design and conduct formative and summative assessments aligned with Cambridge IGCSE expectations.
- Regularly evaluate student performance and identify learning gaps.
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to students.
- Support students in developing examination techniques and effective answering strategies.
- Analyse assessment data and implement appropriate intervention and enrichment strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.
4. Curriculum Development
- Follow the Cambridge IGCSE Physics syllabus and assessment objectives.
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, worksheets, practical activities, and revision resources.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and continuous improvement within the Science Department.
- Collaborate with other Science teachers to ensure continuity and progression across grade levels.
- Incorporate appropriate digital tools, simulations, and technology into teaching and learning.
5. Student Development
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom setting.
- Encourage curiosity, scientific thinking, questioning, and independent learning.
- Mentor and support students academically and personally within the scope of the teaching role.
- Identify students requiring additional academic support and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Encourage participation in science projects, competitions, exhibitions, and enrichment activities.
6. Collaboration & School Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Science, Academic Coordinator, and fellow teachers.
- Participate in department meetings, staff meetings, training programmes, workshops, and professional development activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress when required.
- Maintain professional standards and comply with school policies and procedures.
- Contribute to school events, academic initiatives, and other responsibilities assigned by the management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics / Applied Physics / related field.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
- Cambridge IGCSE Physics teaching experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of the Cambridge IGCSE Physics syllabus and assessment objectives.
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience in Physics preferred.
- Experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE / Cambridge International curriculum will be an advantage.
- Experience in conducting Physics laboratory experiments and preparing students for practical assessments is desirable.

Preferred Profile
The ideal candidate should be a passionate Physics educator who can move beyond textbook-based teaching and inspire students to understand how and why physical phenomena occur. The candidate should be comfortable with practical investigations, Cambridge-style assessments, data analysis, and developing students' confidence in solving unfamiliar Physics problems.
