Medical Lab Intern – 12 Month Internship

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka
Internship Duration: 12 Months
Work Type: Full time Internship
Eligibility: Final-year DMLT / B.Sc. MLT students

Internship Opportunity

Orange Health Labs is looking for final-year Medical Laboratory Technology students to join our laboratory team in Bengaluru for a 12-month internship.

This opportunity is designed for students who want to move beyond classroom learning and develop practical experience in a working diagnostic laboratory. You will be exposed to real laboratory workflows, patient sample handling, testing processes, quality practices, and laboratory operations.

You will work under the guidance of experienced laboratory professionals and gradually develop familiarity with the processes followed in a diagnostic setup.

Your Day-to-Day Exposure

During the internship, you will support the laboratory team with activities such as:

- Receiving and checking clinical specimens before processing.
- Matching samples with the required patient and test information.
- Sorting and organizing samples according to testing requirements.
- Assisting with centrifugation, separation, aliquoting, and sample preparation.
- Supporting routine laboratory activities in Biochemistry, Hematology, and Clinical Pathology.
- Learning the workflow of automated laboratory analyzers and other diagnostic equipment.
- Assisting trained technicians with routine testing procedures.
- Following laboratory SOPs while performing assigned activities.
- Understanding the importance of internal quality control and accuracy checks.
- Recording information accurately in laboratory systems and registers.
- Supporting proper sample storage and disposal procedures.
- Following laboratory safety, hygiene, and biomedical waste practices.
- Helping maintain an organized and clean laboratory workspace.
- Understanding how laboratories manage sample volumes and turnaround time (TAT).
- Reporting sample issues, equipment concerns,



or process deviations to senior staff.
- Supporting the team in maintaining smooth laboratory operations during busy periods.

Learning Areas

The internship will provide practical exposure to multiple aspects of diagnostic laboratory work, including:

Clinical Sample Handling
Learn appropriate identification, processing, storage, and movement of patient specimens.

Biochemistry
Understand routine biochemical testing workflows and gain exposure to analyzer-based laboratory processes.

Hematology
Learn about routine hematology sample processing, testing workflows, and equipment.

Clinical Pathology
Get exposure to routine specimen examination and clinical pathology procedures.

Quality & Safety
Understand SOP adherence, quality control, documentation, laboratory safety, and error prevention.

Diagnostic Operations
Learn how a professional diagnostic laboratory manages samples, workload, TAT, documentation, and daily processes.

Eligibility Criteria

We are looking for students who:

- Are currently in the final year of DMLT or B.Sc. MLT.
- Can commit to a 12-month internship.
- Have a basic understanding of medical laboratory procedures.
- Are interested in pursuing a career in diagnostic laboratories or healthcare.
- Are comfortable working with clinical samples under supervision.
- Can carefully follow SOPs, instructions, and safety procedures.
- Have good attention to detail.
- Are willing to learn new laboratory techniques and processes.
- Can work effectively with technicians and other laboratory team members.




- Are comfortable working in rotational shifts and rotational weekly offs as required.
