JOB DESCRIPTION – PLC OPERATOR

Job Summary

The PLC Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring the PLC-based automated production system of the cattle feed manufacturing plant. The operator will ensure smooth, safe, and productive operation of production machinery, maintain process parameters, identify operational issues, and coordinate with the maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate and monitor the PLC control system for cattle feed production processes.
- Monitor plant operations through the PLC/HMI control panel.
- Control and monitor equipment such as:
- Hammer Mill
- Grinder
- Mixer
- Pellet Mill
- Conditioner
- Cooler
- Crumbler
- Conveyors
- Elevators
- Bagging/packing systems
- Maintain required production parameters such as temperature, pressure, moisture, feed rate, and processing time.
- Start, operate, and shut down machinery according to SOP and safety procedures.
- Monitor alarms, trips, and abnormal indications on the PLC/HMI system.
- Immediately report machine faults, electrical problems, PLC errors, and production abnormalities to the concerned supervisor or maintenance team.
- Coordinate with the Production, Electrical, Mechanical, Quality, and Maintenance teams for smooth plant operations.
- Maintain proper production records, shift reports, downtime records, and machine operating data.
- Ensure correct flow of raw materials and finished products through the automated system.




- Check production targets and maintain production efficiency as instructed by the Production Manager.
- Follow all company policies, production SOPs, and safety instructions.
- Ensure proper housekeeping around the control room and plant operating area.
- Assist the maintenance team in identifying PLC-related operational problems.
- Ensure proper handover of plant status and pending issues to the next shift operator.
- Take immediate action during emergency situations as per plant safety procedures.

Technical Responsibilities

- Basic understanding of PLC, HMI, SCADA, sensors, control panels, and automation systems.
- Monitor PLC inputs and outputs and identify abnormal conditions.
- Understand basic electrical and instrumentation indications.
- Check and respond to PLC alarms and machine interlocks.
- Maintain production parameters according to approved process settings.
- Support troubleshooting of automation-related issues with the maintenance team.
- Ensure that unauthorized changes are not made to PLC programs or machine parameters.

Safety Responsibilities

- Follow all plant safety rules and PPE requirements.
- Never bypass machine safety interlocks without authorization.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, electrical faults, or machine abnormalities.
- Follow proper emergency shutdown procedures.
- Ensure safe operation of machinery during starting and stopping activities.





Required Qualification

Minimum: ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical, or a related technical field.

Experience

Preferred: 1–5 years of experience as a PLC Operator / Plant Operator / Automation Operator in a manufacturing, feed mill, food processing, or similar industrial plant.

Freshers with relevant technical knowledge may also be considered.

Authority & Accountability

The PLC Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the PLC-controlled production system during the assigned shift and is accountable for immediately reporting machine faults, abnormal conditions, and production-related issues to the concerned authority.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
