Analyst-Operational Risk Management Gurugram, HR, India (Hybrid) **Job Description** The Operational Risk Management (ORM) organization within Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) is responsible for conducting independent oversight and testing to assess operational risk across all business units, functions, processes and geographies at American Express. The objective of the Financial Reporting Risk Oversight team within ORM is to provide independent oversight of financial reporting risks, strengthen governance practices, and support consistent execution of the Financial Reporting Risk Oversight practices across the enterprise The Analyst - Financial Reporting Risk Oversight will support the execution and continuous enhancement of the Financial Reporting Risk Oversight function. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting Risk Oversight, this role will support the effective challenge activities related to processes involved in producing and filing US regulatory reports and assisting with governance and control activities. The role requires close collaboration with stakeholders across business units and reporting functions to promote consistent application of oversight procedures, ensure adherence to policy and governance requirements, and support informed risk management and decision-making. **Responsibilities** + Support the identification and assessment of financial reporting risks by evaluating the design and execution of first line processes and controls. Apply risk-based testing methodologies to assess conformance with established governance requirements and identify opportunities to strengthen the control environment. + For the risk universe associated with US regulatory reports, execute activities as defined within the second line oversight procedures and support the development of test plans by considering the risk profile of financial reporting processes, business activities, and key controls. + Execute risk-based conformance testing reviews to assess adherence to the applicable regulatory requirements to validate the accuracy, interpretation and documentation of reporting instructions to ensure reporting requirements are met and adhered to. + Document testing procedures, observations,
and results, including the identification of control gaps, non-conformance, and improvement opportunities. Prepare clear and concise testing reports that communicate outcomes and conclusions to management and relevant stakeholders. + Support the strengthening of ongoing monitoring program including Risk Appetite metrics for the key reporting processes in AXP and other Key Risk Indicators as well as Risk Oversight policies and procedures. + Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and senior leaders in reporting units **Qualifications** + Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management, or other related discipline is required. + 2-3 years of experience in the financial or regulatory reporting roles, audit or risk management within the banking or financial services industry is required. + Prior Regulatory/Federal Reserve/SEC/External Reporting and banking/financial services experience is strongly preferred. + Proactive in identifying issues, delivering and escalating key findings, and advising on recommended solutions to correct issues or mitigate risks. + Strong understanding of business process controls, policy adherence, and risk management practices. + Excellent written and verbal communications with ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms. + Rigorous and analytical approach to problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization collaboration across teams/geographies.
