Position Title

Faculty – Interdisciplinary Research (Liberal Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences)

About the Role

Chandigarh University seeks accomplished and research-oriented faculty members who can contribute to the University's interdisciplinary research ecosystem. The successful candidates will demonstrate a strong academic and publication record, experience in research proposal development, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Preference will be given to candidates whose research aligns with SDGs, Public Policy, Behavioral Sciences, Educational Innovation, Digital Society, Ethics of AI, Gender Studies, Social Innovation, or other emerging interdisciplinary areas.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and lead high-quality interdisciplinary research programmes.
2. Publish 8–10 high-quality research papers in Scopus- and/or Web of Science-indexed journals, aligned with the candidate's academic level and research profile.
3. Develop and submit competitive research proposals to national and international funding agencies.
4. Secure 1–2 externally funded research projects during the appointment period.
5. Establish and participate in at least 2 interdisciplinary research collaborations with internal or external academic, industry, government, or societal partners.
6. Produce 2 societal-impact studies, policy briefs, or evidence-based policy reports.
7. Contribute to research centers, interdisciplinary clusters, seminars, conferences, and knowledge-exchange initiatives.
8. Mentor PhD scholars and postgraduate/undergraduate students in research projects.
9. Contribute to curriculum development and innovative teaching practices where relevant.
10.



Build national and international academic networks and represent the University at conferences, workshops, and research forums.
11. Translate research findings into practical, policy, educational, or societal applications.
12. Contribute to the University's institutional research, innovation, accreditation, and academic-development objectives.

Essential Qualifications

- PhD in Liberal Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a closely allied discipline from a recognized university/institution.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more relevant interdisciplinary areas.
- Strong record of scholarly publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals.
- Demonstrated experience in research proposal writing and/or funded research.
- Ability to conduct independent as well as collaborative interdisciplinary research.

For the Associate Professor position, a stronger publication, citation, research funding, academic leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration profile will be expected.

Academic Level Considerations

Assistant Professor:

Candidates should demonstrate strong potential for independent interdisciplinary research, a growing publication record, proposal-writing capability, and potential to develop funded research and collaborative networks.

Associate Professor:

Candidates should demonstrate an established research profile, stronger scholarly impact, research leadership, evidence of funded projects and interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to mentor researchers and lead research initiatives.
