Special Educator - Hearing Impairment

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Special Educator, you will:

- Assess developmental, cognitive, language, and educational needs of children and individuals with hearing impairment.
- Identify learning challenges and strengths through standardized tools and informal observation.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) specifically tailored for children with hearing loss.
- Set academic and communication goals in close coordination with audiologists and speech therapists.
- Facilitate language development using a variety of visual, auditory, and tactile methods.
- Reinforce speech and auditory training techniques in collaboration with the speech therapist during educational sessions.
- Educate and counsel parents about hearing impairment, learning needs, and effective home-based strategies.
- Involve families in goal setting and progress monitoring, fostering a collaborative support system.




- Prepare children with hearing impairment for mainstream or special school environments, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Support academic skills like reading, writing, and numeracy using tailored teaching techniques.
- Work closely with audiologists and speech-language pathologists to ensure consistent and integrated therapy plans.
- Track and document progress meticulously toward IEP goals.
- Update reports for caregivers, audiologists, and other involved professionals.
- Address behavioral issues that may arise due to communication challenges, implementing supportive strategies.
- Encourage peer interaction and social skill development among children.
- Conduct awareness programs and parent training sessions to empower families and the community.
- Assist in community outreach or school collaboration activities when required.
- Maintain educational materials, visual aids, and assistive learning tools, ensuring they are accessible and in valuable condition.
- Recommend specialized learning aids based on individual needs to optimize learning outcomes.

Work Details

- Work Location: LOKEPUR BHAKAT PARA MAHABIR CLUB, NEAR TO APOLLO PHARMACY, Bankura, WEST BENGAL - 722102.
- Timings: 10 AM to 7 PM.
