As a Managing Engineer in the Enterprise Shared Services (ESS) Billing team at Allstate, you will play a crucial role in leading the engineering strategy and delivery for Allstates enterprise billing platform. Your responsibilities will include modernizing legacy IBM mainframe systems, developing greenfield cloud-native solutions, and ensuring accurate, secure, and scalable billing for millions of policies. Additionally, you will manage a team of engineers, drive technical excellence, and collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Product, and Technology.Key Responsibilities:- Lead the architecture and technical design of new and existing billing platforms, services, and integrations, ensuring alignment with business OKRs and compliance expectations.- Collaborate with product, finance, legal, engineering, and risk stakeholders to shape strategy and prioritize the roadmap for billing, pricing, reconciliation, and operational workflows.- Participate in daily standups, cross-site syncs, and team ceremonies to foster strong communication and shared ownership across distributed teams.- Drive and contribute to retrospectives, encouraging open, constructive, and empathetic feedback to support continuous improvement.- Establish and promote up-to-date DevSecOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability, and cloud-native deployment, while coaching the team in their adoption.- Lead knowledge sharing sessions to contribute to collective engineering excellence and strengthen the broader engineering community.- Act as a technical anchor for the team, guiding decisions on architecture, tooling, frameworks, microservices patterns, event-driven design, and scalable system operations.- Coach engineers at all levels, supporting paired programming, test-driven development, clean code practices,
