The Role:
The Congolese Country Expert will be responsible for providing in-depth research and expert analysis on political, social, and human rights developments in one or more Congo countries. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in law, academia, journalism, political science, or NGO/human rights work, who possess deep knowledge of the region and are capable of producing accurate, well-researched, and articulate reports in English.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce expert reports analyzing conditions in their country of expertise related to social, political, legal, or human rights concerns, based on individual case contexts.
- Provide objective, well-researched insight to inform legal arguments, documentation, or case evaluations.
- Deliver professional, well-documented reports to support legal cases (including asylum and immigration) and academic/public policy projects.
- Review case-specific documents and apply your expertise to relevant questions.
- Follow a structured legal report template with support from our team at every step.
- Maintain high standards of neutrality, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Ideal Profile:
- Substantial knowledge and experience dealing with political, social, and/or human rights issues in Congo country/ies.
- A background in law, political science, international relations, human rights, journalism, or a related field.
- Accreditation or membership in a recognized professional body is an advantage.
- A portfolio of written work (e.g., academic articles, reports, legal briefs, journalistic pieces) related to Congo country/ies.
- Fluency in English and strong writing skills are essential.
- Strong punctuality and ability to meet deadlines while delivering high-quality work.
