Job Responsibilities
As a DevOps Engineer, you will need to:
- Documentation: Writes specifications and documentation for the server-side features.
- Development: Develops, codes, builds, installs, configures, and maintains IT solutions.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support. Investigate and resolve technical issues.
- Deployment: Uses configuration management software to automatically deploy updates and fixes into the production environment.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting: Perform routine application maintenance to ensure the production workplace runs smoothly. Develops maintenance requirements and procedures.
- Performance management: Recommends performance enhancements by performing gap analysis, identifying alternative solutions, and assisting with modifications.
- RCA: Perform root cause analysis for production errors.
Qualification: Graduation or Post-graduation in Computer Science/ Engineering or relevant field
Key Skills for DevOps Engineer
A DevOps Engineer’s role requires technical skills in the development cycle and operations skills for maintenance and support. Computer Science or Computer Technology graduates can bring some of the technical skills necessary to become a DevOps engineer.
Pre-requisite skills required for a DevOps Engineer role include:
- Experience working on Linux-based infrastructure.
- Skillset: Kubernetes cluster, Terraform/Python Scripting, good working and understanding of AWS (preferable to have an AWS certification), CI/ CD pipeline, GitHub, Bit Bucket.
- Configuration and managing databases such as MySQL, and Mongo.
- Excellent troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies, and cloud services
- Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles
