As a Design Engineer your responsibility is to support the team in engineering tasks handle more than one project/s, and complete all tasks assigned to you according to business requirements. You are expected to work independently to complete projects accurately in a stipulated timeframe. Provide guidance and support to other team members as and when it is needed. The duties and responsibilities of the Design Engineer are not limited to those listed below. It may change based on business needs and/or as directed by your line manager.
- Develop 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using Solidworks by following effective modelling and drawing practice and ensuring information on drawings and documents aligns with the requirement.
- Follow defined company processes and standards.
- Supporting the development of products with an understanding of performance requirements, including all aspects of the product design criteria, product function, and customer needs.
- Ensuring quality in a product's design for usability, reliability, functionality,
marketability, and ease of manufacture.
- Supporting efforts to verify and validate recent product designs.
- Review of mechanical design calculations, fabrication drawings, and Job packages for gas transfer products, Emergency Release Couplings, Breakaway Couplings, Dry Break Couplings, pressure vessels, columns, and storage tanks by Design Code, Client datasheet, and Specifications.
- Complete and oversee functional testing on prototypes, including design of test units and tooling with recorded documentation.
- Applying design to cost and design for manufacturability methods to support the operations team in achieving project objectives.
- Collaborate as a team member with the design, sales, and project teams and contribute in the project and tasks assigned.
