Credit Underwriter

Job description

Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyse credit applications to determine creditworthiness and assess risk.
- Evaluate financial documents, credit reports, and other relevant information to make informed credit decisions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, and customer service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience
- Communicate credit decisions to applicants and provide clear explanations for approvals or denials.
- Monitor and manage the performance of the loan portfolio, identifying trends and potential risks.
- Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting credit underwriting.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.




- 1–2 years of experience in credit underwriting or a similar role (Preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and risk assessment.
- Familiarity with credit scoring models and underwriting software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Preferred candidate profile
- Experience in the fintech or banking industry.
- Knowledge of local market dynamics and customer behaviour.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
