We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL and Neo4j / Graph Databases.
The role will focus on assessing the feasibility and approach for migrating existing Neo4j-based graph workloads, data models, and Cypher queries to PostgreSQL using Apache AGE.
The ideal candidate should have strong database engineering, graph data modelling, query analysis, migration, and performance assessment experience.
Key Responsibilities
Assess existing Neo4j architecture, graph workloads, and database landscape.
Analyze Neo4j graph schemas including nodes, relationships, constraints, and indexes.
Review and classify existing Cypher queries including CRUD, traversal, aggregation, shortest-path, and variable-length traversal queries.
Assess compatibility of Neo4j workloads with PostgreSQL + Apache AGE.
Identify unsupported functionality, compatibility gaps, technical risks, and query rewrite requirements.
Design and build graph schemas in PostgreSQL + Apache AGE.
Migrate sample graph datasets from Neo4j to PostgreSQL.




Convert representative Cypher workloads to Apache AGE-compatible queries.
Perform functional validation and compare results between Neo4j and PostgreSQL.
Evaluate query performance and migration complexity.
Identify application changes required to support the target architecture.
Work closely with Architecture, Data Engineering, and Development teams.
Contribute to migration roadmap development and Go/No-Go recommendations.
Must-Have Skills
8–10 years of overall experience in Data Engineering / Database Engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
Robust hands-on experience with Neo4j or similar Graph Databases.
Hands-on experience with Cypher Query Language.
Strong understanding of graph data modelling, nodes, relationships, traversals, indexes, and constraints.
Experience in database/data migration, modernization, or feasibility assessment.
Strong SQL and database performance optimization skills.
