JOB DESCRIPTION – TRANSPORT Supervisor
Position: TRANSPORT SUPERVISOR
Department: Logistics & Transport
Reporting To: Operations / General Manager
Location: PATNAGARAH, BALANGIR
JOB PURPOSE
To manage the company’s transportation operations, ensuring secure, timely, cost-effective, and well-controlled vehicle movement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -
Manage daily vehicle planning, routing, and deployment.
Monitor drivers, attendance, discipline, and trip performance.
Conduct travel audits, trip audits, and fuel inspections.
Monitor fuel consumption, mileage, vehicle utilisation, and transportation costs.
Ensure timely vehicle servicing, repairs, maintenance, and documentation.
Monitor GPS tracking and vehicle movement to prevent unauthorised use and route deviations.
Coordinate with drivers, transporters, dispatch, warehouse, and operations teams.
Verify trip sheets, fuel records, transporter bills, and related documents.
Handle vehicle breakdowns, delays, accidents, and emergencies.
Prepare daily/weekly transport and cost-control reports.
Ensure compliance with vehicle safety,



permits, insurance, fitness, and other statutory requirements.
KEY SKILLS -
Skill AreaRequired KnowledgeTravel AuditingTrip verification, route checking,
distance and expense auditing. Fuel Inspection: Fuel consumption, mileage analysis,
fuel theft/leakage control. Driver Management: Driver allocation, attendance, discipline,
performance monitoring. Vehicle Maintenance: Preventive maintenance, servicing, repairs, breakdown management. Vehicle Management: Vehicle utilisation, route planning,
documentation and cost control. GPS Tracking: Knowledge of GPS-based vehicle tracking and route monitoringFleet
Software: Basic knowledge of Wheels Eye / Fleet Management Software or similar systems. Reporting: MS Excel, MIS reports, trip and fuel reports
Communication: Strong coordination and negotiation skills. Problem Solving: Ability to handle breakdowns, delays and operational issues.
