The Visual Arts Teacher for MYP/DP will be responsible for teaching and inspiring students in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) within the field of visual arts. This role involves nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and technical skills in students through a variety of artistic mediums and techniques. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in visual arts education, experience with IB curriculum, and a passion for fostering artistic expression and appreciation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction and Curriculum Development:
- Plan, deliver, and assess visual arts lessons for MYP and DP students according to the IB curriculum standards.
- Develop engaging and challenging projects that encourage artistic exploration and skill development.
- Integrate art history, theory, and cultural context into lessons to broaden students' understanding of visual arts.
Studio Practice and Techniques:
- Teach and demonstrate various artistic techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital media.
- Provide guidance on the use of tools, materials, and equipment in the art studio.
- Foster experimentation and innovation in students’ artistic practices.
Student Support and Feedback:
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students on their artistic progress and projects.
- Support students in developing their portfolios for IB assessments and exhibitions.
- Encourage reflection and self-assessment as part of the artistic process.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Visual Arts department and across other subject areas to create interdisciplinary projects.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and professional development opportunities.
