Job Description:

1. Production Planning & Control
Plan daily moulding targets based on casting requirements and dispatch schedules
Ensure optimal utilization of moulding lines, machines, and manpower
Coordinate with melting and fettling departments for smooth production flow
2. Process Control & Standardization
Maintain strict control over moulding parameters
Standardize moulding practices across both the shifts
Ensure proper pattern setting, box alignment, and mould integrity
3. Sand Plant & Raw Material Monitoring
Monitor sand properties (AFS, moisture, clay content, compactability)
Ensure proper sand mixing, reclamation, and reuse
Control additives like bentonite, coal dust, and water for consistent quality
4. Quality Assurance in Moulding
Ensure mould quality to prevent casting defects like:
Shrinkage, Sand inclusion, Mismatch, Scabs
Weight control
Work closely with QA/QC team to reduce rejection rates
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
5. Team Management
Supervise moulding supervisors, operators, and helpers




Train workforce on best moulding practices and safety
Ensure discipline, shift handovers, and accountability
6. Productivity & Cost Optimization
Reduce sand consumption, binder usage, and rework
Improve moulding cycle time and output per shift
Control wastage and improve yield
7. Maintenance Coordination
Coordinate with maintenance team for upkeep of:
Moulding machines
Sand plant equipment
Flasks and patterns
Ensure minimal downtime
8. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily production reports and rejection analysis
Track key KPIs:
Rejection %
Sand consumption/MT
Productivity per shift
Report deviations and improvements to management
9. Continuous Improvement
Implement lean manufacturing / process improvement initiatives
Introduce recent techniques for better mould strength and surface finish
Drive automation and efficiency upgrades
10. Coordination with Pattern & Design Team
Ensure pattern suitability for moulding process
