JOB PURPOSE

To develop innovative, commercially viable, and trend-relevant designs for Narayan Overseas’ têxtile and home-furnishing collections. The Designer will be responsible for translating market trends, buyer requirements, and brand aesthetics into new products, prints, patterns, quilting techniques, colourways, and collections suitable for international markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research international trends in home têxtiles, bedding, quilts, cushions, throws, bedspreads, and soft furnishings.
- Develop recent and commercially viable design concepts in line with international market trends.
- Create prints, patterns, embroideries, quilting designs, colour combinations, textures, and surface embellishments.
- Develop seasonal collections based on market requirements and customer briefs.
- Prepare design presentations, mood boards, colour stories, and collection concepts.
- Work closely with the merchandising team to understand buyer briefs, target prices, quantities, quality requirements, and delivery timelines.




- Convert buyer concepts and inspirations into practical and production-friendly designs.
- Develop new product ideas and maintain a strong pipeline of innovative developments.
- Select and coordinate suitable fabrics, colours, trims, techniques, washes, finishes, and constructions for new products.
- Work closely with sampling and production teams to ensure designs are accurately executed.
- Review samples and provide clear comments for modifications, corrections, and improvements.
- Ensure that the final product maintains the intended look, feel, colour, proportion, and design detailing.
- Develop multiple colourways and design variations based on buyer and market requirements.
- Maintain an organised library of designs, artwork, colour references, trend information, samples, and developments.
- Stay updated on international home-furnishing trends, competitor collections, retail launches, trade fairs, and emerging techniques.
