Job Summary
We are looking for a fresh Mechanical Engineering graduate/diploma holder to work as a Line Inspector on the shop floor. The role involves real-time inspection of components/parts during production to ensure they conform to drawings and quality standards before moving to the next process or dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process (line) inspection of parts/components at each production stage
- Check dimensions, tolerances, and visual defects as per drawing/specification
- Use measuring instruments — Vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, plug/ring gauges, go-no-go gauges, dial gauge, surface roughness tester
- Segregate OK/NG (rejected) parts and tag them correctly
- Stop the line and alert supervisor/QC engineer immediately if a defect trend or major deviation is found
- Fill line inspection reports/checksheets (hourly/shift-wise)
- Maintain first-piece and last-piece inspection records
- Support in identifying root cause of rejections at line level
- Ensure calibrated instruments are used; report instrument issues
- Follow SOPs, work instructions, and safety norms on the shop floor
- Coordinate with production operators and QC engineer for smooth flow
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (2024/2025/2026 pass-outs)
- Freshers welcome (0-1 year experience)
Required Skills:
Technical Skills
- Basic drawing reading ability (dimensions, tolerances, symbols)
- Hands-on familiarity with basic measuring instruments (from academic labs/internship is fine)
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (machining/molding/casting/assembly — mention as per your industry)
- Awareness of OK/NG concept, rejection, and rework
Soft Skills
- Attention to detail, alertness on the line
