Job Summary

The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) is responsible for providing round-the-clock medical care to pediatric and neonatal patients admitted to the hospital. The RMO will work in rotational shifts, manage emergency cases, assist consultants during patient care, and ensure timely clinical interventions while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Examine, assess, diagnose, and manage pediatric and neonatal patients under the guidance of consultants.
- Attend OPD, IPD, NICU, PICU, Nursery, and Emergency cases as assigned.
- Conduct daily patient rounds and monitor the progress of admitted patients.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate treatment.
- Stabilize critically ill patients before consultant intervention when required.
- Perform medical procedures within the scope of practice.
- Prescribe medications and investigations as per hospital protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records, treatment notes, and discharge summaries.




- Coordinate referrals and transfers when necessary.

Patient Care & Communication
- Explain treatment plans and procedures to patients' attendants.
- Counsel families regarding patient condition under consultant supervision.
- Ensure compassionate, ethical, and patient-centered care.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Coordination
- Work closely with consultants, nursing staff, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments.
- Ensure effective handover during shift changes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions regarding patient management.

Quality & Compliance
- Follow NABH guidelines and hospital policies.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Ensure proper documentation of clinical incidents.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
- Comply with biomedical waste management and patient safety standards.
