The Mechanical Designer will own the complete lifecycle of mechanical development, from designing machine structures, fixtures and modifications to supervising fabrication and ensuring successful assembly on the shopfloor. The role requires hands on involvement to translate designs into robust, production ready machines.
Responsibilities
Mechanical System Design
- Design complete mechanical assemblies including machine frames, mounts, fixtures, conveyors and part handling mechanisms
- Develop 3D concept models and detailed manufacturing drawings using Solidworks software
- Analyze and control dimensional tolerances to maintain exact alignment of mechanical components.
- Select appropriate materials, bearings, fasteners, actuators and standard components
- Design for manufacturability, reliability and cost efficiency
Machine Development and Prototying
- Build and assemble mechanical systems in house
- Support rapid prototyping and design iterations
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues during testing and production trials
