Position Description - Accountant
The company is a well-established Australian food business specialising in cakes, slices, muffins and biscuits, with an expanding product range that now includes pies imported from Recent Zealand.
We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Accountant with strong communication skills who can work autonomously while contributing effectively as part of a team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and delivering timely, relevant financial information and advice to management. The successful candidate will provide the insight needed to support informed decision-making and improve the companys profitability and overall business performance.

Accountabilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to date accounting records in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards;
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements
- Complete regular bank reconciliations, investigating any discrepancies.
- Prepare and process accounting journals as required.




- Complete all month end tasks as required.
- Provide monthly consolidated financial results including an analysis of key variances, trends and recommended actions.
- Analyse monthly results (sales, GP% and expenses) to identify and investigate variances to prior periods.
- Liaise with management on key issues/actions required from analysis of trends, monthly results, etc.
- Prepares Balance Sheet reconciliations ensuring old reconciling items are promptly addressed.
- Compile and distribute monthly results pack.
- GP checks.
- Monitor FX for implications with imports.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting systems, reporting systems and workflow processes.
- Ad hoc projects for management as required.
