Role & responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for the procurement of raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and all other items required for manufacturing and maintenance.
- Engage in effective contract negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Build and maintain solid relationships with key suppliers, ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain.
- Oversee inventory levels, track usage patterns, and implement measures to prevent stockouts while minimizing excess inventory.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that procured materials and equipment meet specified standards.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Conduct thorough analyses of procurement decisions, considering long-term benefits and overall cost-effectiveness.
- Contribute to the development and execution of procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Preferred candidate profile
- University graduate holding a valid degree.
- Proven experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on steel or related industries.
- 5-8 years of work-related experience.
- At least 5 years of experience within the steel industry.
- Conversant with international trade and business processes.
- Knowledge of material codes and specifications.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent negotiation skills, especially in dealing with multinational sales/marketing professionals.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Detail-oriented and organized with excellent time management skills.
