Key responsibilities
- Prepare annual, project, and activity-wise budgets in consultation with programme teams and management, and monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
- Review financial transactions to ensure that expenditures are accurate, properly authorised, adequately supported with documentation, and comply with organisational, statutory, and donor guidelines.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date books of accounts and ensure timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Ensure the secure custody and systematic maintenance of all financial records, accounting registers, vouchers, invoices, receipts, bank records, contracts, files, and supporting documents.
- Verify all receipts, invoices, bills, payment requests, and supporting documents before processing payments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare payment vouchers, journal vouchers, bank vouchers, cash vouchers,
and maintain an organised voucher filing system for easy retrieval and audit purposes.
- Prepare periodic financial statements, budget utilisation reports, cash flow statements, fund reconciliation statements, and other financial reports as required by management and donors.
- Reconcile bank accounts, cash balances, advances, statutory payments, and other financial records on a regular basis.
- Work closely with programme teams to monitor project expenditures and ensure that financial planning aligns with programme implementation.
- Perform any other finance, accounting, budgeting, compliance, or administrative responsibilities assigned by the reporting manager in support of the organisation's objectives.
