Define Performance Testing Objectives and Scope

The performance tester should work with stakeholders to understand the business goals, user expectations, and technical requirements of the system under test. Based on these inputs, the performance tester should define the performance testing objectives and scope, such as what type of tests to conduct, what metrics to measure, what load scenarios to simulate, and what tools to use.

Design a Performance Test Plan and Strategy

A performance tester should design a detailed and comprehensive performance test plan and strategy that covers all aspects of the performance testing process, such as test environment setup, test data preparation, test execution, test monitoring, test analysis, and test reporting. Understanding which type of testing focuses on tweaking software performance can provide deeper insights into performance optimization.



The performance test plan and strategy should align with the performance testing objectives and scope and follow the best practices and standards of the industry.

Develop Performance Test Scripts and Scenarios

A performance tester should develop performance test scripts and scenarios that emulate real-world user behavior and workload on the system under test. The performance test scripts and scenarios should be realistic, reliable, reusable, and maintainable. The performance tester should use appropriate performance testing tools and techniques to create and execute the performance test scripts and scenarios.

Configure and Manage the Performance Test Environment

A performance tester should configure and manage the performance test environment that mimics the production setting as closely as possible. The performance test environment should have adequate hardware, software, network, and security resources to support the performance testing
