Job Summary

The Hospital Billing Assistant is responsible for supporting the hospital’s billing and accounts operations. The role involves preparing patient bills, verifying billing information, coordinating with patients, insurance companies, and hospital departments, and ensuring that billing records are accurate and up to date.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process patient bills for outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and diagnostic services.
- Enter patient and billing information accurately into the hospital billing system.
- Verify charges for consultations, procedures, medicines, investigations, room charges, and other hospital services.
- Check patient documents, insurance details, and billing records for accuracy.
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, pharmacy, laboratory, insurance desk, and accounts departments to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Assist with insurance and cashless billing documentation and claim-related requirements.
- Generate invoices, receipts, refunds, and other billing documents as required.




- Collect payments and provide receipts while following hospital financial procedures.
- Handle patient and attendant queries regarding bills, payments, and charges professionally.
- Maintain proper records of daily collections, outstanding amounts, adjustments, and refunds.
- Follow up on pending payments and outstanding bills when required.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information.
- Assist the accounts team with billing reports, reconciliation, and other administrative work.
- Follow hospital policies, billing procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications
- Graduate; preferably both Arts & science background
- Basic knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and billing software.
- Positive numerical and data-entry skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of insurance/cashless billing is an advantage.
