Role Overview

HCLTech is looking for an experienced Informix Database Administrator to support, maintain, and enhance business-critical database environments. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, security, resilience, and operational stability across production and non-production landscapes. This role requires strong technical expertise in IBM Informix, Unix/Linux administration, scripting, incident resolution, change execution, and stakeholder collaboration in an enterprise IT operations setting.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on database professional with proven experience in managing Informix environments, supporting critical applications, resolving production incidents, implementing automation, and working collaboratively with application, infrastructure, and business teams. The candidate should demonstrate strong ownership, service mindset, communication discipline, and ability to work in a controlled ITIL-aligned support environment.

- Database Administration: Install, configure, and upgrade IBM Informix database server software and related products.
- Performance & Tuning: Monitor system health, analyse logs, and optimize database performance by tuning queries, indexes, and configurations.
- Backup & Recovery: Develop and maintain database backup and restore policies, utilizing Informix utilities (e.g., ontape, onbar, onstat, dbexport).
- High Availability: Implement and manage disaster recovery strategies and high availability solutions such as HDR, RSS, and SDS.
- Security & Compliance: Manage database security, enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and maintain compliance with organizational data policies.
- Automation & Scripting: Automate routine operational tasks using shell scripting (UNIX/Linux), Python, or Ansible.
