Position: Safety Officer / HSE Officer

Job Summary

Responsible for implementing and monitoring Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) procedures at the power plant to ensure safe working conditions, compliance with statutory requirements, and prevention of accidents and incidents.

Key Responsibilities

- Implement and monitor site safety policies, procedures, and HSE standards.
- Conduct regular plant/site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and conditions.
- Prepare and monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
- Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems, including hot work, confined space, work at height, and electrical work permits.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and safety training for employees and contractors.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as lifting operations, scaffolding, welding, work at height, excavation, and electrical maintenance.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operating practices.
- Participate in emergency drills, fire safety activities, and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe incidents and prepare investigation reports.
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training records, and incident statistics.
- Coordinate with maintenance,



operations, electrical, mechanical, and contractor teams on safety requirements.
- Monitor housekeeping, fire protection systems, emergency exits, and safety equipment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory, environmental, and occupational safety requirements.
- Support internal and external HSE audits and close corrective/preventive actions.
- Promote a solid safety culture and continuously improve workplace safety practices.
- Required Qualifications & SkillsDiploma/Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Safety, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in power plant/industrial safety.
- Good knowledge of HSE procedures, PTW, JSA, risk assessment, LOTO, confined space, work at height, and fire safety.
- Knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance activities.
- Good communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Ability to conduct safety training and toolbox talks.
- Proficiency in preparing safety reports and documentation.
- Knowledge of applicable safety legislation and standards.
- Preferred CertificationsNEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA or equivalent safety certification.
- First Aid and Fire Fighting certification.
- Any recognized Industrial Safety / Construction Safety qualification.
