Pricing and inventory are 2 of our more strategic levers as optimal pricing ensures always-on CX and JiT (just in time) purchasing ensures cash flows that help pass through more savings to our customers.
This role owns both. You will set and defend the price architecture across every category, and you will decide what we buy, how much, and when. You will sit between merchandising, supply chain, marketing and finance — and you will be the person who can answer, with evidence, why a product costs what it costs and why we are holding the stock we are holding.
It is a hands-on role with real commercial ownership. You will not be maintaining someone else's model; you will be building the one the business runs on.
WHAT YOU'LL OWNPricing strategy & architecture
- Landed cost modelling — build and maintain full landed cost by SKU: ex-factory, freight, duty, handling, warehousing, packaging, payment fees and returns provision.
- Price setting — set and review RRP across categories, with explicit price ladders and entry,
core and premium tiers that make sense to a customer browsing a category page.
- Competitive benchmarking — track UK competitor pricing systematically and translate it into positioning decisions rather than reactive matching.
- Promotional governance — own discount depth, cadence and mechanic. Model the margin impact of every promotion before it runs and report the actual outcome after.
- Markdown & exit pricing — run a disciplined markdown ladder for ageing and end-of-life stock that clears inventory without training customers to wait for a sale.
Margin management
- Own contribution margin at SKU and category level, and be the person who flags erosion before it shows up in the P&L.;
- Partner with sourcing on cost negotiations, MOQ trade-offs and cost-down opportunities across the manufacturing network.
- Model the margin implications of freight, duty and FX movement, including the UK–India FTA duty position, and recommend price action where needed
