a. Provides effective leadership of the "medical-laboratory service, including budget planning and financial management, in accordance with institutional assignment of such responsibilities;
b. Relate and function effectively with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies, appropriate administrative officials of the healthcare community, and the patient population served, and providers of formal agreements when required;
c. Ensure that there are appropriate numbers of staff with the required education, training and competence;
d. Ensure that the quality policy, a protected laboratory environment in compliance with good practice and applicable requirements is implemented;
e. Serve as a contributing member of the medical staff for those facilities served, if applicable
f. Ensure the provision of clinical advice with respect to the choice of examinations, use of service and interpretation of examination results;
