About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and responsible Utility Operator to manage and monitor essential utility systems within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, continuous and efficient operation of plant utility equipment, maintaining operating parameters, identifying abnormalities and coordinating with maintenance teams whenever required.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in operating utility equipment such as Chilling/Brine Plant, Cooling Tower, Air Compressor, Nitrogen Plant and RO Plant, along with a strong understanding of SOPs, safety practices and routine utility operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Chilling Plant / Brine Plant

- Operate and monitor chillers, chilled-water pumps and condenser-water pumps.

- Monitor and record temperature, pressure and flow-rate parameters.

- Ensure smooth and continuous operation of the chilling/brine system.

- Identify abnormal operating conditions and report them promptly.

2. Cooling Tower

- Monitor cooling-tower fans, pumps and water levels.

- Check cooling-water temperature and blowdown parameters.

- Monitor and maintain chemical dosing as per operating procedures.

- Ensure efficient cooling-tower operation and proper water circulation.

3. Air Compressor System

- Operate and monitor air compressors.

- Check compressor pressure, temperature and oil level.

- Monitor dryers, receiver tanks and condensate drainage.

- Ensure compressed-air systems remain available for plant operations.

4. Nitrogen Plant

- Operate nitrogen-generation equipment, including PSA/VPSA units,



compressors, dryers and storage systems.

- Monitor nitrogen purity, pressure, flow, temperature and dew point.

- Start, stop and switch equipment according to approved SOPs and operating procedures.

- Immediately report any abnormality in nitrogen generation or distribution.

5. RO Plant / Water Treatment

- Operate the RO plant and monitor its performance.

- Check feed-water and product-water pressure and flow.

- Monitor conductivity/TDS and membrane performance.

- Monitor chemical dosing and identify any abnormalities in the RO system.

6. Routine Monitoring & Documentation

- Regularly monitor utility equipment and operating parameters.

- Accurately record readings in utility log sheets.

- Identify abnormal conditions and communicate them to the concerned supervisor.

- Maintain proper operational records as required by company SOPs.

7. Preventive Maintenance Support

- Perform basic utility equipment inspections.

- Carry out routine lubrication, cleaning and basic checks.

- Support the maintenance team during equipment breakdowns.

- Assist in maintaining equipment reliability and minimizing utility downtime.

8. Safety & Compliance

- Strictly follow company SOPs, safety procedures and PPE requirements.

- Operate all utility equipment safely and responsibly.

- Follow proper operating and shutdown procedures.

- Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment abnormalities or potential hazards.

9. Water & Energy Management





- Monitor utility consumption, particularly water and energy usage.

- Identify unnecessary consumption or operational losses.

- Take appropriate action to improve utility efficiency and reduce wastage.

10. Shift Handover

- Provide clear and accurate shift handover to the incoming operator.

- Communicate equipment status, operating readings, abnormalities and pending maintenance work.

- Ensure continuity of utility operations between shifts.

Key Skills Required

- Hands-on experience in pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing utilities.

- Knowledge of Chilling/Brine Plant operations.

- Knowledge of Cooling Tower operations.

- Experience with Air Compressors and compressed-air systems.

- Understanding of Nitrogen Generation Plants such as PSA/VPSA.

- Basic knowledge of RO Plant and water-treatment systems.

- Ability to read and maintain utility log sheets.

- Good understanding of SOPs and safety practices.

- Ability to identify abnormal equipment conditions.

- Good communication and shift-handover skills.

- Willingness to work in a shift-based manufacturing environment.

Education

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Instrumentation or a relevant technical discipline will be preferred.
