Key Responsibilities of an OT Technician
- Prepare the operation theatre before surgeries by cleaning and arranging equipment.
- Sterilize surgical instruments and ensure infection control protocols are followed.
- Check and maintain surgical equipment, machines, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses during surgical procedures.
- Arrange surgical instruments according to the type of surgery.
- Help position and transfer patients safely before and after surgery.
- Monitor the availability of surgical consumables and maintain inventory.
- Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste according to hospital guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of instruments, equipment, and procedures.
- Respond promptly to emergency surgeries and ensure the OT is always ready.
- Inspect equipment for proper functioning and report any faults for repair.
- Follow hospital safety, hygiene, and quality standards at all times.
