Role & responsibilities
2. DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer
Build and run the cloud infrastructure behind a financial platform that has to stay up. You'll own infrastructure-as-code, Kubernetes, observability, and incident response for a system where downtime during volatility is the worst possible failure mode.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS (EC2, Lambda, EKS, VPC, IAM, and related services)
- Write and maintain all infrastructure as code using Terraform - no manual console changes in production
- Manage and scale Kubernetes (EKS) clusters and containerised workloads
- Design, deploy, and maintain database infrastructure - relational, NoSQL, and time-series - including HA, backups, and tested restores
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable, automated, auditable deployments
- Implement and operate monitoring, logging, and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Datadog), including latency and error-budget SLOs
- Own secrets management, key handling, and security hardening across environments
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery - define and regularly test RTO/RPO targets
- Own infrastructure cost optimisation and capacity planning, including headroom for volatility-driven traffic spikes
- Set up and maintain incident management: alerting, escalation, on-call rotation, and blameless postmortems
- Support audit and regulatory requirements - log retention, access controls, and evidence collection
- Collaborate closely with backend engineering to support scalable, production-grade systems
Preferred candidate profile
What We're Looking For
