JOB DESCRIPTION Position Librarian Location G D Goenka Public School Kolkata Dumdum Department Academics Salary Based on experience expertise 1 Role Overview The school is seeking a qualified and dynamic Librarian with more than 2 years of experience in managing school libraries The candidate must hold a B Lib degree and be proficient in handling library automation cataloguing book management circulation processes and supporting the reading culture in alignment with CBSE norms 2 Key Responsibilities Library Operations Management Manage day-to-day library functioning including issue return of books Classify catalogue and maintain records of books journals reference materials and digital resources Maintain an updated database of library resources both physical digital Ensure systematic shelving timely repair and proper maintenance of books Support for Students Teachers Assist students and faculty in locating and selecting reading reference materials Guide students in basic library skills and reading habits Coordinate with teachers for class-wise reading sessions and resource requirements based on CBSE curriculum Library Development Maintain record of new books purchased damaged books and weeded-out materials Support annual stock verification and prepare reports for management Recommend new books periodicals and digital content to enhance the library collection Compliance Reporting Maintain all library registers accession logs and inventory as per CBSE guidelines Ensure discipline safety and a quiet environment in the library Assist during inspections audits and academic events related to reading and literature 3 Required Qualifications Experience B Lib Bachelor of Library Science - Mandatory Minimum 2 years of experience as a Librarian preferably in a CBSE school Knowledge of library management systems LMS and digital cataloguing Strong understanding of children s literature academic resources and CBSE reading requirements 4 Skills Competencies Strong organizational and record-keeping skills Proficiency in classification cataloguing and library automation Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Passion for promoting reading habits among students Ability to maintain discipline and manage student traffic in the library 5 Salary Benefits Salary As per experience and school norms Additional benefits as per institutional policies Job Types Full time Permanent Pay 10 000 00 - 30 000 00 per month Benefits Paid sick time Paid time off Provident Fund Education Bachelor s Required Experience Library services 2 years Required Location Dum Dum Kolkata West Bengal Required Work Location In person
