Role & Responsibilities
- Own the group-wide payroll function end-to-end for 4,000+ employees across all entities, states, and business verticals steel, mining, power, food processing, and corporate offices
- Set payroll strategy, standardize policies, and centralize processes across group companies to establish a single source of truth
- Lead payroll digital transformation, driving implementation and optimization of an integrated HRMS-payroll platform group-wide
- Build and own payroll analytics and dashboards (cost-to-company, overtime, headcount cost by vertical) for leadership decision-making
- Manage multi-state, multi-entity payroll complexity — varying minimum wages, DA revisions, shift/overtime, plant incentives, and geographic allowances
- Ensure statutory deductions, remittances, and filings (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF) across all states with zero late-remittance penalties
- Own full-and-final settlements, gratuity, bonus, leave encashment, and arrears with complete audit trails




- Lead contract-labour wage compliance and reconciliation under principal-employer obligations across the group
- Design controls and process re-engineering to scale payroll for greenfield/brownfield manpower ramp-ups
- Reconcile payroll with Finance/GL monthly and lead statutory, internal, and cost audits
- Build and lead a payroll team, setting SLAs for processing, disbursement, and query resolution
- Report to leadership on payroll compliance, cost trends, and risk exposure

Preferred Candidate Profile
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, or HR; payroll/compliance certification preferred
- 15–18 years of progressive payroll experience, with 8–10+ years in a Head-level or enterprise payroll leadership role
- Demonstrated ownership of group-level payroll across multiple entities, states, and 4,000+ employees in a large manufacturing/industrial setup
- Deep expertise in Indian payroll statutes — PF, ESI, PT, TDS, Bonus, Gratuity, Wage Codes
- Solid experience running payroll o
