Profile: SAP Analytics & HANA Platform Engineer with deep expertise in ABAP-Managed Database Procedures
**Primary Focus: ** Architecting and building an enterprise data warehouse on HANA appliance
**Experience: ** 8-10+ years in SAP analytics and HANA environments

WHAT YOU WILL BUILD
The engagement centres on designing and delivering a high-performance enterprise data warehouse on an appliance-based HANA platform. Your output will power analytics and reporting across the business:
An EDW platform with HANA push-down modelling at its core, eliminating application-layer bottlenecks.
High-throughput data pipelines that bring together data from multiple SAP source modules.
A harmonised semantic layer consumed by enterprise reporting tools including BOBJ, Power BI, and Tableau.
Extraction frameworks leveraging ODP, BW extractors, and CDC patterns with reliable delta handling.
ABAP-Managed Database Procedures (AMDPs) built for production performance and maintainability.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITY REQUIRED

HANA Platform & AMDP Engineering
Proven depth in SAP BW on HANA environments (BW 7.4/7.5 or native BW on HANA) using Eclipse BW Modeling Tools.
Expert-level SQLScript: table functions, class-based AMDP architecture, CE functions, exception handling, and push-down strategy.
Performance tuning across partitioning, column-store pruning, join type selection, and calculation view optimisation.




HANA SQL privilege management alongside BW analysis authorisations.

BW Object Design
Advanced Data Store Object (ADSO) design covering write-optimised, standard, and direct-update scenarios.
Transformations and Routines (Start, End, Expert), including formula and ABAP-based logic.
Data Transfer Process configuration, error handling, and scheduling strategies.
Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, and Info Object modelling for semantic layer construction.

Data Extraction & Pipeline Patterns
Operational Data Provisioning (ODP) via SAPI, CDS Views, and SLT-based replication.
Standard BW extractors across Finance (FI/CO), Sales (SD), Procurement (MM), and Production (PP/PM/CS) modules.
Delta mechanisms: generic delta, timestamp-based extraction, and Change Data Capture patterns.

Query Design & Reporting Layer
Building performance-tuned BW queries for multi-tool consumption across SAP BOBJ, Tableau, and Power BI.
Semantic model design that abstracts complexity and accelerates self-service analytics.

SAP BUSINESS PROCESS KNOWLEDGE
Solid fluency in the data models and flows underpinning the following business processes is expected:
Order-to-Cash (SD)
Plant Maintenance & Service (PM / CS / SM)
Procure-to-Pay (MM)
Currency translation & pricing conditions
Record-to-Report (FI / CO)




Partner functions & stock / non-cumulative logic
Manufacturing / Production (PP)
GR/IR clearing & profitability modelling

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION
Comfortable working with globally distributed business and technical stakeholders.
Able to translate ambiguous business requirements into precise, defensible data architecture decisions.
Produces clear documentation: technical specs, data lineage notes, and solution design records.
Experienced in agile delivery environments with sprint-based planning and iterative rollout.
