Position / Role: Backup & Storage Engineer
Required Technical Skill Set: Commvault Backup, VEEAM Backup, Veritas Net Backup, Rubrik Backup, Cohesity, Opti9 Backup.
Desired Experience Range: 6-15 Years
Location of Requirement Offshore, Kolkata/Chennai/Hyderabad/Pune/ Bangalore/Noida

Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)

Must-Have
Experience managing enterprise Backup Consolidation or Data Protection transformation programs.
Strong understanding of backup architectures, retention policies, replication, DR, and cyber recovery.
Knowledge of hybrid cloud infrastructure and migration methodologies.
Experience leading migration waves, cutovers, validation, and hypercare activities.
Understanding of RPO/RTO expectations and recovery-testing governance.
Experience coordinating cross-functional teams across infrastructure towers.
Expertise in enterprise backup platforms: Commvault Backup, VEEAM Backup, Veritas Net Backup, Rubrik Backup, and Opti9 Backup.
Deep understanding of RPO/RTO, DR workflows, and data replication technologies.
Experience in monitoring and diagnostics for storage performance and failures.

Positive-to-Have
Ability to execute ITIL processes covering incidents, problems, and change management.
Experience utilizing automation via scripts for backup validation and reporting.




Azure or AWS Certification
Commvault and/or Rubrik Foundation Knowledge
Experience with large-scale Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) transformations
Exposure to cyber resilience and ransomware recovery initiatives
Knowledge of implementing security controls for data protection.
Strong documentation discipline, analytical troubleshooting mindset, and the ability to work in 24x7 operations.

# Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role
1. Lead the overall Backup Consolidation Program from initiation through BAU handover.
2. Coordinate Discovery, Validation, Design, Build, Migration, Decommissioning, and Hypercare phases.
3. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, milestones, RAID logs, and governance dashboards.
4. Manage migration waves based on business criticality, application dependency, and infrastructure readiness.
5. Track program budget, effort utilization, timelines, and deliverables.
6. Coordinate with OEM vendors (Commvault, Rubrik, etc.) and third-party stakeholders.
7. Facilitate weekly steering committee, governance, and stakeholder meetings.
8. Monitor risks, issues, dependencies, and escalation management.
