IoT System Architect – Smart Home & Connected Devices Role Summary We are seeking an experienced IoT System Architect having 10+ years of experience in IoT, Embedded Systems, Smart Home Solutions, and Cloud Architecture to lead the design and development of next-generation smart home solutions.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IoT ecosystems, Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, Video Doorbell Systems, and Matter-enabled smart home devices.
This role requires a strong technical leader who can define end-to-end architecture spanning edge devices, cloud platforms, mobile applications, connectivity protocols, security frameworks, and AI-powered user experiences.
The candidate will collaborate with product management, engineering, third-party partners, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and interoperable smart home solutions.
Key Responsibilities Define and own the end-to-end architecture for smart home and connected IoT solutions.
Design cloud-native architectures leveraging Microsoft Azure services and IoT platform capabilities.
Architect solutions involving: Smart video doorbells Smart cameras Smart locks Sensors and security devices Matter-enabled smart home products Drive interoperability across multiple ecosystems including Matter, Thread, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, and cloud-based integrations.
Design secure device onboarding, provisioning, authentication, and lifecycle management processes.
Develop scalable video streaming and event-processing architectures for doorbell and surveillance systems.
Work closely with engineering teams to establish architecture standards, design patterns, and best practices.
Lead technical evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and technology roadmaps.
Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and industry standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Firmware, Mobile, Cloud, QA, and Dev
Ops.
Mentor technical teams and provide architectural leadership across multiple programs.
Must-Have Skills Smart Home & IoT Strong experience in Smart Home ecosystem architecture.
Hands-on experience designing and deploying connected IoT products.
In-depth understanding of: Matter Protocol Thread Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Wi-Fi Zigbee MQTT Experience with device onboarding, provisioning, commissioning, and remote device management.
Knowledge of OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware updates and device lifecycle management.
Microsoft Azure Strong expertise in: Azure IoT Hub Azure IoT Central Azure Digital Twins Azure Event Hub Azure Service Bus Azure Functions Azure Stream Analytics Azure Storage Services Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Azure API Management Experience designing cloud-native microservices architectures on Azure.
Understanding of observability, monitoring, and cloud security frameworks.
Video Doorbell & Video Systems Experience designing solutions involving: Smart Video Doorbells Video Surveillance Cameras Motion Detection Systems Video Analytics Understanding of: Video streaming technologies RTSP/WebRTC protocols Cloud video storage Edge AI for video processing Event-driven architectures Security Expertise in IoT security architecture including: Device Identity Management PKI and Certificates Secure Boot Firmware Signing Encryption Technologies Secure Communication Protocols Experience implementing Zero Trust principles for connected devices.
Software Architecture Strong understanding of: Distributed Systems Event-Driven Architecture Microservices API Design Edge-to-Cloud Architecture Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Valuable-to-Have Skills Experience with smart home platforms: Amazon Alexa Google Home Apple Home
Kit Samsung Smart
Things Knowledge of AI/ML-based smart home use cases.
Familiarity with Edge AI and Computer Vision applications.
Experience with embedded Linux and RTOS-based devices.
Exposure to camera image processing pipelines.
Experience working with semiconductor/SoC platforms such as Qualcomm, NXP, Silicon Labs, Nordic, or ESP32.
Familiarity with Home Automation standards and certification requirements.
Certifications in Azure Solutions Architecture or Azure IoT.
Experience in consumer electronics or home security products.
Educational Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Electronics & Communication Engineering Preferred Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Microsoft Azure Architect or Azure IoT certifications.
Relevant certifications in Cloud, Security, or IoT Architecture.
Preferred Candidate Profile 10+ years of experience in IoT and connected device ecosystems. 5+ years of architecture experience in smart home or consumer IoT products.
Proven experience delivering commercial smart home solutions from concept to deployment.
Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to influence technical strategy and drive innovation across engineering teams.
