Role & responsibilities
- Monitor daily plant operations to ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and identify potential hazards within the manufacturing facility.
- Assist in implementing health, safety, and environmental management systems.
- Conduct safety induction programs for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Organize toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness campaigns.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by employees and contractors.
- Report, investigate, and document workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain HSE records, inspection reports, permits, and statutory documentation.
- Coordinate fire safety drills, emergency evacuation exercises, and mock drills.
- Monitor hazardous chemical storage, handling, and disposal in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, State Pollution Control Board guidelines, and other applicable environmental and safety regulations.
- Assist during internal and external HSE audits and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and HR teams to promote a safe working workplace.
- Monitor waste management, air emissions, wastewater,
and other environmental aspects of plant operations.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- 1 - 2 years of HSE experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or process industry.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) standards.
- HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, Diploma in Industrial Safety, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with applicable statutory regulations, including the Factories Act, environmental regulations, and workplace safety standards.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of chemical plant safety practices and hazard identification.
- Understanding of the Factories Act, Occupational Safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment, and Incident Investigation.
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures and fire safety systems.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Strong observation, reporting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
