Job Title: Group Lead – eMobility Power Electronics / EV Traction.

Location : Bangalore.

As a Group Lead, you will own the end-to-end development of EV power electronics subsystems (OBC, DC-DC, PDU, and drivetrain inverter) aligned to OEM requirements, APQP processes, and automotive compliance standards.

This role demands solid customer-facing technical leadership, design ownership, and production readiness focus (cost, quality, scalability).

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer & Requirements Management

- Act as primary technical interface with OEM customers
- Analyse and cascade:
- System requirements (SRD)
- Hardware/software requirements (HRD/SWRS)

- Handle change requests, RFQs, and technical negotiations

2. System Architecture & Platform Strategy

- Define scalable platforms for:
- OBC (7kW–22kW, single/three-phase)
- DC-DC (bi-directional, HV-LV)
- PDU (400V / 800V )
- Traction inverter systems

- Drive platform reuse strategy across OEM programs
- Cost vs performance vs manufacturability

3. Detailed Power Electronics Design

- Lead design of:
- PFC + LLC / Phase-shift full bridge OBC
- Dual Active Bridge DC-DC
- HV distribution & protection systems (PDU)

- Component Selection:

- SiC MOSFETs / IGBTs
- Gate drivers, DC-link capacitors
- Magnetics (planar + ferrite optimization)

- Ensure:

- Efficiency targets (>95–97%)
- Power density and thermal limits

4. Electric Drive & Inverter Integration

- Define:
- Inverter topology (2-level / 3-level)
- Motor compatibility (PMSM, induction)

- Oversee:

- Control algorithms (FOC, MTPA, field weakening)





- Align with OEM motor & vehicle integration teams

5. ASIL-Compliant Development

- Ensure compliance with:
- Automotive ASIL (ASIL Level 2/3)

- Define and review:

- System, hardware, and software work products

- Participate in:

- Process audits and assessments

6. Functional Safety Ownership

- Lead safety lifecycle per:
- ISO 26262

- Activities include:

- HARA, FSC, TSC
- DFMEA / FMEDA
- Safety concept & ASIL decomposition

- Implement diagnostics and fault-tolerant architectures

7. Validation, Verification & Compliance

- Define and execute:
- DVP&R; (Design Verification Plan & Report)

- Ensure compliance with:

- EMI/EMC (CISPR 25, ISO 11452)
- Environmental (ISO 16750)

- Support:

- Vehicle-level validation with OEMs

8. Industrialization & Manufacturing Readiness

- Work closely with:
- Manufacturing engineering
- Supplier quality teams

- Ensure:

- DFM / DFA / DFT compliance

- Support:

- SOP readiness
- Line bring-up and ramp-up

9. Supplier & Component Management

- Interface with:
- Semiconductor vendors (SiC/GaN)
- Magnetics and capacitor suppliers

- Conduct:

- Technical reviews and qualification

- Drive:

- Cost reduction (VA/VE activities)

10. Program Leadership





- Lead cross-functional teams:
- Hardware, software, mechanical, validation

- Track:

- Milestones (APQP, PPAP readiness)

- Manage:

- Risks, issues, and escalations

Required Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor’s / Master’s in Electrical / Power Electronics / Automotive Engineering

Experience

- 12–18 years in automotive or EV Tier-1 domain
- Proven experience in complete product development life cycle- from requirement to production.
- Experience working directly with OEMs (e.g., Tata, Mahindra, global OEMs)

Technical Expertise

- Power electronics:
- OBC, DC-DC, inverter design

- High voltage systems:

- 400V / 800V (1500V is a plus)

- Control systems:

- Motor control, converter control

- Simulation tools:

- MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM

Process & Standards

- Strong experience in:
- ISO 26262
- APQP / PPAP / V-cycle development

- Knowledge of:

- ISO 21434 (preferred)

Tools

- Design: Altium / Cadence
- Simulation: PLECS / MATLAB
- Safety analysis: Medini / ANSYS

Soft Skills

- Strong OEM-facing communication
- Technical decision-making under constraints
- Leadership across global teams

KPIs

- On-time delivery aligned to OEM milestones
- First-time-right design (low re-spin rate)
- ASPICE & safety audit success
- Cost vs RFQ target achievement
- Warranty/field failure rate (PPM targets)

Reporting Structure

- Reports to: Head R and D Power Electronics
- Interfaces with:
- OEM engineering teams
- Internal product and program managers
- Supplier
