KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Trade settlement and post-trade operations

Own the end-to-end settlement cycle for institutional equity and F&O; trades across all client segments

Manage daily coordination with local custodians on allocations, confirmations, funding and settlement instructions

Ensure timely dissemination of trade confirmations and electronic contract notes through the Straight Through Processing

workplace, working with STP providers including NSDL, NSE.IT and Omgeo / DTCC CTM

Oversee trade matching, affirmation and exception management; drive down fail rates, unmatched trades and late

confirmations

Manage obligations to exchanges and clearing corporations – pay-in and pay-out, margin reporting, early pay-in

Oversee corporate action processing and entitlement handling for institutional client positions

Mid-office and dealing desk support

Lead the mid-office function supporting the dealing desk, sales traders and dealers on trade queries, allocations, brokerage

computation and position reconciliation

Act as the escalation point for time-sensitive intraday issues where delay creates settlement or client risk

Own daily reconciliation of positions, obligations, brokerage and client balances

Ensure accurate brokerage billing and revenue recognition, including soft-dollar and CSA arrangements where applicable

Institutional client onboarding and KYC

Own account opening across FPI / FII, FDI, DII, AIF, mutual fund, insurance and corporate treasury segments

Manage KYC, re-KYC and periodic review requirements, including documentation from global entities across multiple

jurisdictions

Coordinate with compliance, legal and custodians on account structures, PAN and demat linkages, CP codes, UCC registration

and exchange uploads

Keep onboarding turnaround competitive – slow onboarding costs the desk business directly

Regulatory, compliance and controls

Maintain command of SEBI regulations, FPI regulations, exchange and depository circulars,



PMLA and KYC norms

Maintain working awareness of the cross-border regulations global clients operate under, including sanctions screening and

home-jurisdiction reporting expectations

Build and maintain a robust process and control environment, ensuring all key controls are completed in line with policy and on

time

Own the operations response to internal audit, statutory audit, exchange inspections and SEBI examinations, and close

findings within timelines

Client and counterparty engagement

Serve as the senior operations point of contact for global institutional clients, their custodians and their operations teams

Handle escalations on trade confirmations, settlement discrepancies and query resolution

Participate in client due diligence visits and operational reviews, where global institutions assess post-trade infrastructure

before allocating flow

Process improvement, technology and team leadership

Drive business process reengineering across the institutional operations stack, replacing manual touchpoints with automation

and straight-through flows

Partner with technology to deliver low-latency operational infrastructure and reduce turnaround times on confirmations,

allocations and reporting

Build, lead, mentor and retain the mid-office and back-office team; own capacity planning, cross-training and succession

Design and maintain business continuity arrangements for the settlement cycle

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience: 12 to 18 years in institutional operations, settlements or post-trade functions,



including at least 4 years leading a

team.

Background – any of the following

Institutional equities operations at a domestic or foreign broking house

Post-trade, settlements or middle-office leadership at a custodian bank

Institutional operations at a full-service broker with an FPI-heavy client base

Prime brokerage or clearing operations with Indian market exposure

Must have

Deep, hands-on command of the Indian institutional settlement cycle across cash equities and F&O;

Demonstrated ownership of custodian relationships and custodian-settled institutional trades

Working experience of the STP environment – NSDL, NSE.IT, Omgeo / DTCC CTM or equivalent matching platforms

Practical experience of FPI, FDI and DII account opening and the institutional KYC framework

Command of SEBI, exchange and depository regulations relevant to institutional broking

Strong written and verbal English, with the confidence to face off directly against global counterparts. This is not a back-office-

only role.

A process improvement or automation track record you can put numbers to

Team leadership experience with real accountability for output and people

Good to have

Fixed income, currency derivatives or commodity settlement

exposure alongside equities

A system migration, OMS implementation or major

automation project on your record

Fit markers

Calm under a hard daily deadline. The settlement cycle does

not move for anyone.

Detail-obsessed without losing the bigger process picture

Familiarity with settlement cycle transitions and their

operational implications

Relevant NISM certifications

MBA Finance, CA or equivalent postgraduate qualification

Comfortable being the escalation point rather than

escalating upward

Understands that operations quality is a commercial asset,

not just a control function

Stable career record – this is a relationship-heavy function
