The CAM Programmer is responsible for developing high-precision machining programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis mills within the aerospace domain. The role focuses on process optimization, tooling efficiency, and maintaining strict adherence to AS9100D and QMS standards to ensure cost-effective production.
Job Description
CAM Programming: Generate CAM programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers.
Shop Floor Support: Provide hands-on shop floor support to alter offsets and optimize machine performance.
Tooling Strategy: Lead the selection of cutting tools and the design of fixture concepts.
Process Planning: Execute process sequencing to ensure productive manufacturing flow.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives for process and tooling optimization.
Documentation Compliance: Maintain engineering documentation in compliance with QMS and AS9100D standards.
Accountability:
Ensure CAM programs meet required machining standards and production efficiency.
Support cost-effective and optimized machining processes.
Technical Knowledge Required
Hands-on expertise in CATIA V4, V5, and Unigraphics UG NX CAM
Deep understanding of 3, 4, and 5-axis machining processes
Experience with QMS and AS9100D quality standards
Strong knowledge of cutting tool selection and fixture concept design
Experience Required
8–10 years of experience in the following:
CAM programming for aerospace machining applications
Multi-axis milling operations
Shop floor process optimization
Tooling and fixture development
Personal skills
Strong "CANDO" attitude and qualified behavior on the shop floor
Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
Ability to collaborate effectively with production and engineering teams
Functional skills
Expertise in cost reduction and machining process optimization
Ability to analyze machining strategies and improve productivity
Solid understanding of aerospace machining requirements
Ability to maintain process documentation and standards compliance
