Job Description – Lab Assistant

Position: Lab Assistant
Department: Science Department

Job Purpose

To support the effective functioning of the school science laboratories by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety standards, and assisting teachers during practical sessions.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, and materials for practical classes.
Assist teachers and students during science experiments and laboratory activities.
Ensure laboratories are clean, organized, and ready for use.
Maintain an inventory of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of laboratory materials.
Conduct regular checks to ensure all equipment is in working condition.
Follow and promote laboratory safety procedures and guidelines.
Report damaged equipment, shortages, or safety concerns to the Science Coordinator.
Maintain records of inventory,



equipment maintenance, and laboratory usage.
Support the setup and cleanup of experiments and demonstrations.

Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or related field).
Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety practices.
Computer proficiency for maintaining records and inventories.

Experience
1–3 years of laboratory experience preferred.
Fresh graduates with a science background may also apply.
